Consists of manuscript (both handwritten and typed) notes on several of Gullager's portraits, probably prepared by Susan Sawitzky, a catalogue for an exhibit of Gullager's painting at the Worcester Museum of Art in 1949, and letters from R.W.G. Vail, Louisa Dresser, and Susan Sawitzky regarding an attribution of a painting entitled "Mrs. West" in December 1949 and January 1950.

Christiam Gullager was born in Denmark in 1759; he emigrated to the United States between 1782 and 1786. Gullager's American portrait painting was done largely in Boston, after he arrived there in 1789, and in New England.
